Helga Grollo (Stuttgart 1965) graduated from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia with a degree in Fine Arts. She undertakes research on the interaction between the plastic and word languages. A pictorial metalanguage emerges from this search, which then progressively relates to signs, symbols and other visual codes that intertwine, blend and overlap between themselves.
The use of collage, which relies upon the resource of letters, allows to compose the painting using both the positive and the negative, the gaps, the lines, the spots and the fragment of a word that defines neither nouns nor verbs, but feeling, attraction and sensitivity.
Helga develops a visual game that inspires her to reorder what was previously decomposed and to create her own message – the interest then lies in the tension generated between the word, the colour and the plastic texture.
The gestural use of painting, built on the graphics of the word and vice versa, transport us to an occult world of signs not exempt from a strong charge, both expressive and conceptual.
The hidden messages that can be found spontaneously transport us to an almost unconscious reading where the subtle, the eternal and the enigmatic lead to multiple interpretations.
The intention is to thrill with generally large-format works on canvas board or paper, the collages, the old and used fabrics carefully stained or manipulated; acetates, staples, tears, stitching, labels, unstitched…
Through this technique, a work emerges where the matter merges with the pictorial chromatics, resulting in a complex and harmonious symbiosis with a personal code that offers content of both conceptual values and thoughtful.
Helga has held both individual and group exhibitions in public spaces and has work in private collections.

Helga Grollo (Stuttgart 1965), licenciada en Bellas Artes por la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, investiga sobre la interacción del lenguaje plástico y el lenguaje de palabras. De la misma, surge un “metalenguaje pictórico” que a su vez se relaciona de manera progresiva con el de signos, símbolos u otros códigos visuales que se entrelazan, mezclan y superponen.
El uso del collage apoyándose en las letras, permite componer el cuadro utilizando el positivo y el negativo, los vacíos, las líneas, las manchas, la accidental gota de un color…el fragmento de una palabra que no define ni sustantivos ni verbos, sino sentimiento, atracción y sensibilidad.
De este modo, desarrolla un juego visual que le sirve de inspiración para reordenar lo previamente descompuesto y crear un mensaje propio cuyo interés yace en la tensión generada entre la palabra, el color y la textura plástica.
El uso gestual de la pintura, fundamentándose en el grafismo de la palabra y viceversa, nos traslada a un mundo oculto de signos y mensajes no exentos de una fuerte carga, tanto expresiva como conceptual.
Los mensajes escondidos que se pueden hallar de forma espontánea nos transportan a una lectura casi inconsciente donde lo sutil, lo eterno y enigmático dan paso a múltiples interpretaciones.
La finalidad es emocionar desde la originalidad, con obras generalmente de gran formato sobre lienzo, tabla o papel, el collage, los tejidos antiguos cuidadosamente escogidos y teñidos, acetatos nuevos o usados, grapas, rasgaduras, pespuntes, etiquetas, descosidos…
Mediante la técnica del collage emerge una obra donde la materia se funde con el cromatismo pictórico, resultando una simbiosis compleja y a la vez armónica con un personal entramado que nos sumerge en un mundo de evocadoras emociones.
Helga ha realizado exposiciones individuales y colectivas en espacios públicos. Tiene obra en colecciones y fundaciones privadas.
